Pocket and Tom’s of Maine*
*Turns out Tom’s of Maine is actually owned by Colgate-Palmolive now. But never mind that. The purchase stipulated continued high standards of production and this particular example is only relevant as a basis for comparison.
For while a tube of corporate-conglomerated, naturally-foaming, SLS-free, anticavity-plus-whitening toothpaste is small…
….Pocket is smaller still.
This post is dedicated to Tom Chaparelle of Maine, who succumbed to the siren call of corporate buyout, whose achievements may be tarnished and whose legacy may have wasted to nothing. May he take comfort in the fact that, in the end, everything is relative.

I’m quite enjoying Pocket’s appearances! It seems as thought there aren’t many non-sellouts these days.
